Week 8
I've been creating an image archive to see if anything will inspire me. I've been thinking about metaphors for my thesis topic as well.
Week 7
I created another google form to get more direct answers on what people do on the internet.
I discovered that people value connection, but not every online space provides it. Respondents mentioned meaningful conversations, shared interests, supportive communities, and opportunities to meet people.
People often feel more comfortable sharing with people they already know. Group chats, friends, and familiar communities came up repeatedly.
Public online spaces can discourage expression. Respondents mentioned toxicity, gatekeeping, competition, and worrying about how others will receive their work.
People want more than passive scrolling. They described wanting creative activities, collaboration, discussions, and ways to discover new perspectives.
People want more control over their online environments. Suggestions included older-style forums, calmer spaces, less algorithmic influence, and more opportunities for smaller accounts to be seen.
Week 5
So for my 3 prototypes, I made a google form, a miro board, and a draft a character creator/personality test.
It has been interesting to see how people work through my experiments versus my previous prototypes which have just involved me.
Week 4
my professor in my seminar B class showed me some resources that have been helpful. I also have been thinking of different ways to show what I am thinking about.
Week 3
I'm surprised to see how motivated I am to finding a different angle. But I want it to be something interesting and impactful.
Week 2
I’ve started thinking less about whether the online self is “real” or “fake” and more about how different digital environments bring out different versions of us.
Week 1
I was just trying to get back into the swing of things.
Weel 6: Provotype
Something big I realized is this whole topic is really about how I enjoy sharing things. And my miro project made me realize that some people don't get the same opportunity as me for example when it comes to expressing themselves and their interests. a quote from a free write i did about the miro board "a lot of the people on that board are employed as well in non-art related jobs (education, medicine, military, engineering, etc. but also some graphic designers haha) so when do they normally have the time to express themselves like this? "
